It’s time to get nautical

The Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce is busy all year long.

Steve Miller, executive director of the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce, joined Good Morning Keys on KeysTalk 96.9/102.5FM this morning to talk about upcoming events.

The Nautical Expo is coming up in January on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend – January 14 and 15, 2023.

Miller said, “It’s just about one of our biggest events. We generally have thousands of people that come to this thing every year. It’s truly, truly fun for the entire family.”

The event includes just about anything to do with boating and fishing as well as live music, food and fun.

The local musicians donate their time to participate.

Miller said, “There are so many different vendors to see. We always have over 100 vendors. Right now we’re at about 70, but there’s still a month to go. In fact, if you are a vendor, basically the motif is nautical, however if you do arts or crafts or anything like that, we’re more than happy to go ahead and get you in.”

Anyone who would like to have a booth, call the Chamber at 305-872-2411.

This year there will be a donut truck.

Miller said, “Oh my goodness. They were just incredibly, incredibly awesome. I’m so looking forward to this entire thing.”

The event will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on January 14 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on January 15 at the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce visitor center, mile marker 31 oceanside on Big Pine Key.

Miller said, “My sponsors make it all possible.”

The Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce has socials that are more like open houses – there’s no charge for attendance.

Miller said, “We do them at really cool locations. The next one coming up is going to be the first Wednesday in January and it is at the Underwater Photography Gallery on Cudjoe Key. I know a lot of people have been dying to see this place, well here’s your chance to come by and check it out with a lot of your friends.”

The Chamber recently held their annual Christmas Gala.

Miller laughed, “I never relate the stories. People, your secrets are safe with me, okay?”

The board was sworn in at the holiday party.

Miller said, “The food at that thing was just absolutely spectacular. The crowd really had a good time.”

Other upcoming events include the Business Expo, a radio auction, the Dolphin Tournament and the Underwater Music Festival.

Miller said, “We’re probably one of the most busy Chamber of Commerce that are out there.”
