Destiny Lee with the Marathon Community Theater joined Good Morning Keys on Keys Talk 96.9/102.5FM this morning to talk about what’s going on in the theater.
A casting call for participants in the Marathon Community Theater’s variety show is coming up in January.
Lee said, “We have auditions coming up for One Weekend Only. One Weekend Only is the biggest fundraiser that the theater puts on every year. We typically host a variety show and a silent auction featuring local businesses and local talent for two nights only, February, 6 and 7, 2026. We would love if we could get people to come and participate in our variety show. And we need people to come audition, since it’s our biggest fundraiser, our theme is Lights, Laughter and Action, and we want fun, uplifting acts that will bring people lots of smiles. Auditions are going to take place January 10, 2026, from 10 to 12 and 1 to 3. You can just show up as you are, just come prepared to do a little bit of your routine, whatever it is. And we will also accept video submissions if you can’t make the audition date.”
Are there specific acts that the theater is looking for?
Lee said, “Specifically, we are looking for anything that’s entertaining and will give people a laugh. We’re looking for singers, dancers, musicians, skits, stand up routines, magic parodies, if somebody’s going to laugh and have a good time, we want it on stage.”
Lee is one of the directors for the variety show.
She said, “I have been doing stuff with the theater for the last year, and OWO is like the biggest thing we do every single year, and this year, they needed a director, and me and three of my friends were like, hey, let’s just do it. Let’s just direct.”
It has been a real star studded season at Marathon Community Theater this year.
Lee said, “It’s been great, especially with Rocky Horror and Wizard of Oz. Wizard of Oz was absolutely exceeded everybody’s expectations. So we’re really on fire, and we want to keep it going. So come in for auditions, just be prepared to show us a little bit of your number. It doesn’t have to be complete, but we do need to see something.”
