The Key Largo Chamber of Commerce Fourth of July celebration was absolutely wonderful

Suzi Youngberg, president of the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce, joined Good Morning Keys on KeysTalk 96.9/102.5FM this morning to talk about upcoming events.

The July 4 celebration was amazing.

Youngberg said, “What a beautiful day it was. It was a little cloudy, which that just kept it a little cooler. So no one really complained. We had the biggest parade we’ve ever had in the history of the Key Largo Chamber. The Key Largo parade for Fourth of July. It was our 49th annual parade, and we had 93 floats. (Next year will be) the 50th parade for Key Largo, and then the 250th anniversary of our country. So yes, we’re planning next year to be a big Fourth of July celebration. Of course, we couldn’t do it without our wonderful sponsors. The Key West International Airport sponsors the fireworks from Key West to Key Largo. They sponsor those on the Fourth of July for us.”

Taste the Keys is coming up.

Youngberg said, “It’ll be an October event. Last year, we did a foodie tour. We had a couple of trolleys that took about 40 people around to five different restaurants to get a taste and a cocktail at each spot. It was highly successful. So we’re bringing that back this year. We’ll probably do two weeks of trolley tours, so there will be some opportunities there, but it’s going to be a bigger event than that. It’s going to be all through Key Largo and down through the Upper Keys. Think about Miami Spice in the Upper Keys. We will be working with lots of different restaurants to come up with some set menus at certain prices that people can go and maybe try some restaurants they haven’t tried before, maybe expand their palate, try some different flavors, maybe, than they would have. We also are hoping to partner with some hotels and some different activities, excursions, some of our diving groups, and putting together some packages for people to take advantage during October, since it is kind of a slower time in the Upper Keys, we really want to focus and bring the light to some of the wonderful things we have to do in Key Largo, from our restaurants, our excursions, to everything.”

The Key Largo Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center really is the first stop for a lot of visitors.

Youngberg said, “As we’re into a little bit of the slower summer months. Just Monday, I think we had almost 100 people stop in looking for information, what do we do? We’re here. So we are definitely an important part of welcoming our tourists to the Florida Keys at the Key Largo Chamber and Visitor Center.”

Tomorrow from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Snappers Oceanfront Restaurant and Bar will be a Chamber event.

Youngberg said, “Tomorrow night should be a really nice event. If you haven’t been to Snappers recently, they have rebuilt the traditional turtle bar, which is now a second story bar with a beautiful view. So it should be a lovely evening. We’ll have a nice breeze. So we encourage everyone to come out. You can register for the event on our website, just click on the Events tab. You can see everything that the Chamber has going on, in addition to a lot of community events that are posted on there. But we do two networking events a month. Tomorrow night is our Members in Motion evening event, always the fourth Thursday of every month. It moves around, different members host it, which is why it’s called Members in Motion. And then the second Thursday of every month is always our members networking luncheon, which in August we’re very excited. We will be at Playa Largo, and we have Kara Franker, CEO of Visit Florida Monroe County Tourist Development Council. So she’s going to be sharing the new strategic marketing plan that they have adopted through the TDC and some great updates for us. Just keep in mind that the Key Lago Chamber is there for our business community. If there are any businesses out there who are not familiar with the Key Largo Chamber and would like to learn more, please give us a call, send us a message, and we’ll let you know all the great things we can do to help promote your business. We also help connect people. I’ve talked a lot about the power of networking, and that’s one thing that we really strive and pride ourselves on at the Key Largo Chamber is it’s connecting the people who need to be connected, especially if you’re a newer business or new to the community, we can help make sure that you meet the right people to help your business succeed and thrive.”
