The Republican Party of Monroe County is always hard at work

Rhonda Rebman Lopez, chair of the Republican Party of Monroe County, joined Good Morning Keys on KeysTalk 96.9/102.5FM this morning to talk about what’s going on in the county.

The grassroots efforts of the Republican Party of Monroe County are always continuing.

Lopez said, “We definitely have a lot going on, coming up, that’s for sure. We’ll be working hard on the Reagan Day dinner for the Monroe County Republican Party. That’ll probably be in probably November or so, and we expect a really high profile person to be our keynote. So we’ll be filling you in a little more on that as time gets nearer. We have some really good ones.”

Cutbacks have been happening at the state and local level.

Lopez suggested, “I think the citizens really appreciate it and make sure our tax dollars are being used effectively, and make sure that accountability, fiscal accountability, is very important as well, because people work so hard, and we put in a lot of tax dollars and make sure that those tax dollars are not wasted.”

Charitable contributions up to a pretty sizable amount will not have to itemized on tax returns thanks to the big beautiful bill.

Lopez said, “That’s wonderful. I think anything to encourage charitable contributions is wonderful, and I think that’s a great incentive for people to help on an individual level, without the government getting involved in spending those tax dollars. You as an individual, will have the incentive to do that for the public, and I think that that’s always a great, great thing. We’ve been very fortunate in the state of Florida, Monroe County, with a lot of really charitable people that always step up for the cause.”

Republican club meetings are a great way to talk about issues.

Lopez said, “The Upper Keys is very active club in our county, and we have also the Middle Keys and the Southernmost club. I also wanted to mention on the state level, the Monroe County Republican executive committee is sponsoring a table on August 2 at the Freedom Forum in Orlando, Florida, and the keynote speaker will be Governor DeSantis, and that table is full now, and people were very excited to join in, and it will be Republicans key figures throughout the state and some national figures that will be there. I’m sure some of the people that are interested in the governor’s race will definitely be there.”

Midterm elections will be a topic next year.

Lopez said, “Our Republican Executive Committee meeting will be on August the 16th, and we’ll be focusing a lot on the midterms and discussing candidates. Once again, we’ll be doing some really great fundraising and put our efforts there so we can get behind candidates. It’s always good to have money to put behind your candidates for outreach and get out the vote. That is so important, and we really have to maintain our reputation of getting out the vote in Monroe County as the number one get out the vote Republican in Monroe County, I always tout that, that we were awarded a sizable check for getting out the vote percentage wise, higher than any other county in the state of Florida, and we want to keep that reputation. I just want to remind everyone go online with our Republican clubs. We’ll be really gearing up. A lot of people leave the Keys quite a bit in the summer and go on vacation, etcetera, etcetera, but now people will be starting to come back, and that’s when we were really, really gear up for these midterm elections. That’s so important to get out and vote. God bless America.”
