If you’re looking for a young glow, Key West Surgical Group can help

Nikki Sommer, a nurse with Key West Surgical Group, joined Good Morning Keys on KeysTalk 96.9/102.5 FM for Medical Matters this morning.

If you’re looking for baby soft skin, Key West Surgical Group can help.

Sommer said, “RF micro needling, we got the new Potenza device, and it is good to help give your skin that refresh and youthful glow. We can pair it with the LaseMD Ultra.”

What’s the difference between microneedling and RF microneedling?

Sommer said, “Basically, microneedling is where tiny needles create micro injuries to the skin. It’s usually in the type of a form of a pen. You numb your face with some lidocaine cream and then, once it’s cleansed, you put a serum on and then you use this tiny pen with needles to create those micro injuries, or micro channels to stimulate collagen production. With radio frequency micro needling, those same tiny needles go in, but they also deliver radio frequency energy below the skin surface. This helps tighten and remodel collagen at a deeper level, so you’re not only stimulating repair, you’re also trying to get lifting and firmness. Our lasers are pretty much for all skin types, but there are a lot of lasers out there aren’t. So RF microneedling is another great solution that you can have for all skin types.”

The new Potenza device is pretty advanced.

Sommer said, “I’ve done RF microneedling before. What I love about this device is it’s more customizable to all skin types, but to different areas that you’re trying to target and it comes with an infusion tip. This is great technology, because, like I said, when you do microneedling, you put a serum on and then you microneedle the serum in. A lot of other RF micro needling devices, what you do is you have to microneedle the skin, dry, and then you put the topical on after. So Cynosure came up with a device that has an infusion tip where you can put the serum on the needles, go in with the energy, come back out, and use air to infuse the serum deeper into the tissue.”

What’s the downtime?

Sommer said, “So 24 to 48 hours, you’re a little pink or puffy, but you usually bounce back really fast. You have tighter, firmer skin, fewer lines, smaller pores. It will help improve acne, scarring, stretch marks and cellulite. So a lot of times, people come in for laser and they have those stubborn areas, those lines in the perioral area and the mouth and the chin. While laser can help smooth it out, RF microneedling is really the best treatment. So when you combine the two together, you get really great results. The Potenza works deep into the tissue, and then the settings we use for the LaseMD, it really helps to brighten the surface, so you get, like a total skin revitalization.”

The RF microneedling can be done on other areas of the body.

Sommer said, “You can do it on the body, your arms, your abdomen, your legs, your buttocks. Again, it works for stretch marks and for cellulite. So it’s a great treatment.”

What happens with the aftercare?

Sommer said, “Just like the lasers that we have, because they’re not ablative, you feel like you have a sunburn when you leave. Your skin might be warm to the touch. It may look a little bit swollen, pink for a day or two, which is all normal. You just need to keep it clean, no makeup for 24 to 48 hours and you want to avoid heavy sweating or sun exposure, for at least a week, just because we just kind of injured the skin. We’re stimulating new skin to form, and it’s like baby skin. And hydrate. This is a big thing. Water, water, water. We do free in office skin consultations. You can call 305-294-1041, and schedule that. We do have some specials running on social media, so check those out as well. I’m really excited for this new device. We had our training on Friday, and one of our clients, I saw her, and she was really happy with the results. Two days later, she said, I really think I see a difference in the lines around her mouth. So very exciting.”
